8 Reasons Why Stealing an Art car is a Bad Idea - Stolen Art Car ALERT

This is a stolen art car ALERT - Dennis Dillow from Fort Bend County, Texas has his station wagon art car covered in comic strips stolen right in front of his house Easter morning. First of all who would steal and art car and secondly who would steal one on Easter morning? For the most part stealing art cars is not a very good idea and here is why:
  1. REAL easy to spot
  2. Not reliable
  3. Most people know who the owners are
  4. Not a good get away car.
  5. Resale value is lousy
  6. Gas millage is poor
  7. Everyone stares at you
  8. The art car community looks out for each others cars
So if you are a bad guy reading this blog and you stole this car or are considering stealing an art car in the future think again. My advise to you is just keep walking!!! Anyone with information on the art car’s whereabouts is asked to call police. Here is a link to the video.

VersaTile Art Car by Big Al

VersaTile Art Car by Big Al photo by Krazy Horse

"VersaTile" is 1971 Buick Centurion (455cu V-8) covered with over 600 pounds of ceramic tile and china plates and 100 caulk tubes of Silicone. Created by Al "Big Al" Bartell, this 5,200 pound behemoth is a mosaic masterpiece. Big Al spent six months carefully crafting "Versatile." The car defines opposites: sun/moon, day/night, heaven/hell, male/female, coyote/road runner...The sleek lines of this Buick make an excellent surface for the broken shards of tile and plates that Big Al collected from garage sales and from his family then meticulously glued them each into place. "VersaTile" is Big Al's first art car, but you'd never know it by looking at it. via

Twinkle Twinkle Little Art Car - Happy Fridays:)

I woke up this morning and glitter was on my mind so I remembered that Twinkle Twinkle Little Car was sent in by Nicole Strine some time ago and decided it was time to put her up on Art Car Central. This Honda Civic, I think, and is covered in thousands of cut up CD's donated by a few software companies in Texas. Nicole and her Husband spent about 6 years working on the car and unfortunately this beauty is not longer with us. After it was vandalized they scraped all the CD's off the car and some time later was broadsided at an intersection. May she put a twinkle in your eye today and may she live forever here on Art Car Central.

This video was shot recently at ArtCar Fest 2007 on the first day of the event in San Franscisco. Its called Sashimi Tabernacle Choir Art Car and its volvo covered in over two hundred and fifty computer controlled lobsters, bass, trout, catfish and sharks. the Choir performs a repertoire ranging from pop tunes to classical opera. All songs are tightly choreographed by an energetic orchestral conductor, The Lobster Formerly Known as Larry. Exceptional solos performances are, of course, provided by The Three Basses: Jose Carperas, Placido Dolphingo and the incomparable Luciano Ichthyology.
