Hot Turbo VW Radio Flyer Art Car Built by Toby Hall
Toby Hall is one of those people who will forever remain a kid at heart, just by looking at his latest creation. He recently built a full size Radio Flyer on a VW bug chassis, with a 1641cc flat-four and a Renault 5 turbo that will turn heads and burn rubber. Toby got the idea by watching Tool Time on TV during an episode when Tim the Toolman brought home a motorized Radio Flyer as a Christmas gift. He knew instantly that he had to build one and then went out and got busy. Toby spent a lot of time building his new toy with a tubed frame, bomber style seats, exposed engine and a great paint job. One the coolest features is the tow that can be pulled both by car and by hand when the handle is tilted down. Toby's Radio Flyer was just featured in this months volksworld magazine out of the UK and its my prediction that his art car will go viral. So glad we could have another hot Radio Flyer along with the one Bob Castaneda built in the US back in 1996.

Barb Wire Art Car - Keeps the Riff Raff Out

There is no better way to keep people off your property than with a roll of barbed wire and and big-o-sign that says "KEEP OUT". Paul Shoate bypassed the useless car alarm system and just went for it by building a crazy, bare metal, 1949 Chevy Pick with a bard wire roof. He said "I have had some nice stuff that I didn't want anyone touching," and he also said. "I decided I'd like to build something different so kids can touch it." I am sure the kids love but make sure little johnys tetnus shots are current. Paul you definitely have the hottest Barb Wire Art Car out there, nice work.

Wood Gas Car

This Swedish car that runs on wood gas is simply a must see video. The engineering is superb and even the artistic qualities are on the rustic side of things. You could probably take this thing camping and cook food right on the trunk and on those cold nights, stick in another log. I love it and well done guys.

Art Cars on Ice 08 has officially started and will run January 19-Feb-16th. You can go over and visit Art Shantys with an Art Car Taxi service available to take you out to the ice Saturday and Sunday from 10am - Sunset. The Art Cars on Ice Parade will be on Saturday February 9th at 1pm. and the event is held in Minneapolis every year. From someone who has no clue about driving out on the ice this event to me is crazy, but it looks like a loot of fun if you don't mind the cold weather.

Radio Flyer Art Car by Bob Castaneda

The Radio Flyer Art Car was created Art Baker and his cousin, Bob Castaneda, in 1996 as a way to get a laugh and to "make people smile." It was It was built in 1996 from a 1923 Ford T-bucket and it is a regular at all the Art Car Fest events. I recently found a great story of the creation of the Radio Flyer written by Eilene Spear for the Davis Life Magazine called the Wagon Man, check it out.

Bass Fish Art Car

This just in, Andy Hazell, from Knighton, England has turned his Vauxhall Corsa into an 18ft scale model of a sea bass. He build this Giant Bass with a hydraulic system so the fish can move its tail, raise its fins and open and close its mouth. He also installed 320 fluorescent lights along the fish's streamlined aluminium body and 12-volt motors operate the moving parts. At a whopping 18ft Andy finds it hard to find a parking spot. Andy come on over to America were the roads are big and the parking is always good, in certain parts of the country.

Picasso Run Over by Citroen Car?

My theory on this Picasso Art Car is that Picasso was run over by a Citroen 2CV while crossing a lonely French country road and at the same moment there was a rift in the space time continuum and Bizzaro's World came crashing trough. The two worlds collided, a supernova occurred and out came this magnificent art car. Or it was created by and amazing artist named Andy Saunders, a well known custom car creator from Dorset, England. He is also the creator of "Flat Out" the ‘World’s Lowest’ Crown car standing a mere 22" tall, built by Sanders and his team in three days.

History In Motion Art Car

Motion in History is one of the art cars created by Forrest Butcher found on his web site The Fun Garage. He wanted to build/fabricate a TransAm-style racecar-type bodied vehicle and in the spring of 2005 he started. His car is built on an originall 1975 Volkswagen Bus, and all that is used is the frame. Built with a 1" square tubing and flat sheet metal, the vehicle was hand tooled and designed in the style of a 1960s Trans Am racing car. Nice work and thank you for the submission.

The Phantom by W.T. Burge

The Phantom by W.T. Burge - Art Car Central

The phantom is a replica of a 1936 Bugatti Atlantic and was built by W.T. Burge from Truant Studios. A steel bodied wraith with gargoyle headlights, and was built from the ground up using only a Volkswagen motor, trans axle, steering and suspension. The Shell of the car is made up of small pieces welded together. The eyes glow at night for the scary look. An amazing art car!!!!
